Bulletin: July 2012:Nearly stepped on a rattle snake walking along the portage trail. Listen for unusual sounds no matter how quiet. It might not be an insect. Watch the ground ahead of you carefully. Rattle snakes blend into the forest floor. January 2011:The calendar has been improved. You can see the larger picture just by scrolling down. The holidays are now displayed in a larger easier to read format. You can use a text editor to change the holidays to your own region if you desire. July 2010: Click here to see picture. The barrier across the bridge has been partially removed, enough to allow trail bikes to pass. Maintaining the bridge barriers is a condition of allowing the trail to operate, which has been repeatedly violated. July 2008: This is the 10th anniversary of the McCrae Lake calendar. July 2007:Morons are leaving garbage in the McDonald Lake campsite fireplaces. Take garbage bags with you when you go camping or don't go there. May 2007: Some campers are still leaving garbage in the campsites. Take your garbage bags with you to the dumpster when you leave your campsite. The animals just rip them open and spread the garbage all over the place if you leave them in the campsite. Nobody likes garbage in the campsite except bears. September 2006: Heard an ATV roaring along the snowmobile trail south of the bridge. June 2006: The mosquito population is exploding in the parking lot and camp sites. Note: Set the margins in page setup to .5 before printing the calendars if it is not already so the calendar does not get cropped. Beginning January 2006 the calendar will become quarterly instead of monthly. July 2005: The barriers across the bridge were removed again. The only reason someone would remove the barriers in the summer is to let ATVs illegally use the trail. Maintaining the bridge barriers is a condition of allowing the trail to operate.
